‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ releases a new trailer!

The latest trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has dropped, and I’m so excited about it!

The trailer recalls the events of the original 1984 film with the surprise return of EPA inspector Walter Peck (William Atherton), who looks hellbent on making trouble for the new team of Ghostbusters, while an ancient supernatural being with the “power to kill by fear itself” is awakened.

Not only does this latest instalment see the return of the original legacy cast, but fans get their first glimpse of Annie Potts‘ sassy receptionist, Janine Melnitz, suiting up in a Ghostbusters uniform. In a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, the trailer also sees the return of the Librarian Ghost from the original, as well as Slimer, who was disappointingly left out of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Being an 80s kid, I grew up with the movies and the animated series. So it was no surprise I enjoyed Ghostbusters: Afterlife and how it brought the franchise back for a new generation. However, this latest instalment builds on that even further while still pleasing the original fandom.

Check out the trailer below.

“In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level,” says the official description. “But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.”

The film is directed by Gil Kenan, and stars Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Paul Rudd, who reprise their roles from 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Original Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and William Atherton. The film also stars Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, and James Acaster, newcomers to the franchise.
