Altimate.Showdown Season Three – Heat Three

With each week, the Grand Final of altimate.SHOWDOWN gets closer, and it really is anyone’s guess who will take out the crown for 2025. Honestly, I really don’t know what to say. The calibre of performers this year is truly next level.

While I might be familiar with most of them, they’re really pushing beyond what we’ve seen before, challenging themselves, and giving us something entirely unexpected. And honestly? I’m living for every moment of it!

What makes this season stand out even more is how many of the performances are unapologetically political, using the stage as both protest and platform. We’ve had acts highlighting a variety of issues, including the barriers to accessibility faced by those within our community, challenging stigma that surrounds the sex work industry, and putting a spotlight on the ongoing violence and injustice taking place in Gaza.

These performances are more than entertainment. It’s storytelling that does not shy away from bearing its teeth. Often demanding amongst all the spectacle, a clear call for solidarity from the audience to not only cheer, but reflect, to care, and most importantly, demand change within this crazy world we live in. They’re a reminder that art can be a loud rallying cry for action.
