Every Super Bowl 2024 trailer!

There are two main reasons why I love the Super Bowl, and it’s not because of the sport. It’s the halftime show and, of course, the trailers. There are so many trailers for the year’s upcoming blockbusters and TV series that it feels like Christmas for this pop culture addict.

Of course, the highlight is definitely the first look at Deadpool & Wolverine. The trailer confirms that rumours were true, and the flick would indeed be an epic multiverse adventure that also sees Hugh Jackman reprise the role of Wolverine from the X-Men franchise.

One of the biggest reveals from the trailer is that Deadpool & Wolverine will serve as a major MCU tie-in, with links to the Time Variance Authority from Loki. It looks like it will be up to Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool to become “Marvel Jesus” and save the MCU. It could do with some saving if you judge it off recent instalments, where there have been more misses than hits.

Next up is the latest trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

While it’s only been seven years since the last Planet of the Apes movie was released, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will take the timeline 300 years later. This latest trailer gives viewers another look at Proximus Caesar, a new leader tarnishing the clan’s ideologies with his harsh beliefs and enslavement of the other clans. At the same time, a young chimp named Noa sets out on a journey alongside a young human named Mae to determine the future for apes and humans alike.

I love this franchise, and I’m excited to see the storyline brought even closer to the events depicted in the 1968 film Planet of the Apes.

Finally, we get our first look at John M. Chu’s Wicked, the two-part movie based on the award-winning stage musical. While we get a deeper look at both Cynthia Erivo’s role as Elphaba and Ariana Grande’s Glinda, the bigger surprise was the tease of Dorothy. This brings to question how the character will be incorporated into the plot compared to her role in the stage musical and the book it was based on.
