We did a thing!
This past week has been an absolute whirlwind, and I’m only now finding a moment to sit down and share this. On Monday, February 18th, Cris and I took a step that officially solidified our journey together. We signed for our civil union at the Brisbane Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages.
While a piece of paper doesn’t define a relationship. This moment represents the life we have been building together. A love that we have nurtured and a shared future we are creating.

When I first met Cris in 2023, I had no idea just how much he would come to mean to me. While we connected immediately, neither of us imagined it would evolve into something as deep and meaningful as it has become. Life has a funny way of bringing people into your world precisely at the right time. Looking back, the hippy in me can’t help but feel that our paths were always meant to cross.
It’s been quite the adventure. One of the turning points in our relationship was when I joined to work remotely at a lodge in Fitzroy Crossing. What started as a practical move to help extend his work visa became a unique bonding experience. Living and working together in such an isolated place challenged us in ways we definitely did not anticipate. We learned to navigate specific obstacles as a team while supporting each other through the uncertainties of life’s transitions.
Since then, our journey has been filled with all sorts of incredible moments. Such as travelling to Japan, exploring parts of Australia together, moving in together and creating a place we call our home, and facing life’s highs and lows as a unit. Every experience has been a building block, reinforcing what we already knew. We work best together.
Life isn’t always easy, and relationships take effort. As much as communication is the key in relationships, the willingness to comprehend where the other person is coming from is equally important. Whether it’s the thrill of discovering new places or sharing the quiet comforts of everyday life, every moment we share deepens our bond.
This civil union isn’t the destination. It’s just another chapter in our story. It’s a celebration of our shared connection and a life we continue to build together. A love that continues to grow in ways neither of us imagined.
