It’s well known that are Baskervillain is one of my favourite local acts of Brisbane. Hey, I adore them so much that they’ve played at my own birthday parties once or twice. Loose nights, but they’re stories for another time. One of the things I enjoy about working as an entertainment poker for Ric’s Bar, is there’s acts that I’ve booked that I’ve seen go onto greater things, and there’s also those that I know are definitely on their way. Baskervillain are the latter. Which gets me even more excited for them.
In the lead up to their “It’s A Love” single launch at The Foundry on the 13th of October, the boys have dropped a music video for the track online. Won’t lie, I’ve listened to it multiple times. It’s the perfect mix of old and new that I’ve grown to expect and adore from Baskervillain’s music.
I believe a great song takes you on a journey and Baskervillain’s “It’s A Love” does exactly that. From it’s slow but catchy rise at the beginning through to it’s wave crashing feel of a chorus, and with Tom Spurgin’s rustic and dreamy vocals blended in, it creates the perfect track to add to your next road trip playlist. Or alternatively you could just lay on some cushions, and a smoke a doobie while you’ve got your eyes close letting your mind run free. That probably would’t be a disappointing option either. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprise if that’s where the idea for the music video originated from either.
