In most cases when I hear of a reboot or a remake, I’m usually the first to light the torch and charge with a pitchfork. However, in regards to Hollywood’s recent reboot of Planet of the Apes, the results have been nothing but captivating. It maybe a couple of months before the third addition titled War for the Planet of the Apes hits the big screen, but the final trailer was released today and yet again it’s a massive tease!
Matt Reeves returns once more to the director’s chair with the script he wrote accompanied with Mark Bomback, this time we find Caesar (Andy Serkis) dealing with tragedy and being forced to hit the road to find a new home for his clan of primates. As you can see from the trailer, Caesar is going to be tested both physically and mentally. With the human military chasing down the ape society that he has created, he will be forced to face his greatest challenge yet in form of The Colonel (Woody Harrelson) and his own forces.
War For the Planet of the Apes looks like it will explore both Caesar and The Colonel’s sides, so we should expect plenty of drama, action and dare I say it, loss. Bring on the 14th of July!
