Less than three days after Taylor Swift sent the world into a frenzy by wiping all of her social media clean, the singer is back, but her return isn’t really providing a clear explanation as to what is going on.
Swift, who in the past week won a highly publicised sexual assault case against a former radio DJ who was convicted of groping the singer back in 2013, on Saturday deleted all the content of her social media including turning her website taylorswift.com into a black screen.
However, the 27-year-old didn’t keep fans waiting for long, today posting an odd 10-second video of what is many believe to be a snake slithering along the screen with a black background.
While the internet has been going nuts trying to figure the meaning of the captionless video that on Instagram has already hit 3.5 million views, many are predicting it’s a well-thought-out publicity stunt to announce new music.
Considering the singer’s sudden disappearance of social media happens to land on the three-year anniversary of her announcing 1989; and the fact that one of her collaborators Joseph Kahn, who directed both her “Bad Blood” and “Wildest Dreams” music videos, also posted the bizarre clip with a smiley face, fans are hoping all these signs are pointing to a new album drop.
So it might not be the best attempt at doing a Beyonce dropping a surprise album like Lemonade, but you gotta give some credit to Swifty. She’s definitely created a buzz around whatever she’s about to do in the immediate future.
