The speculation can end. After wiping all her social media accounts of content as a cry of “look at me, I’m about to do something!” Taylor Swift is back.
The singer has unveiled the new title and cover art for her first album since 2014, Reputation. If that wasn’t exciting enough she also announced in a matter of days that she would be dropping her first single. While the cover art got its fair share of criticisms for being reminiscent of a 2003 Myspace punk theme, needless to say, fans were whipped into a frenzy as to what Swifty’s new dark era was about to bring
Today we get our first taste with the drop of her first single titled, “Look What You Made Me Do.” Jack Antonoff, who previously worked with the singer on her fifth album, 1989, co-wrote and co-produced the new track.
Check out the lyric video below.
It does seem “Look What You Made Me Do” is musically a continuation of the pop direction that Swift began with her hit “Bad Blood”, but a much darker iteration. The dreamy synths we’ve grown accustomed to with the singer’s music has been dropped for some nightmarish pop beats. If this track is anything to go by, it’s safe to say the Taylor Swift’s dark era is upon us.
Reputation will be released on November 10th.
