Now, this is great news! After the smashing success that Wonder Woman. Patty Jenkins will be hopping back into the role of director, after securing a deal to direct the film’s sequel.
Variety is reporting that the deal for Jenkins to direct, write and produce the film is reportedly worth around $8 million, which will make her the highest paid female director of all time. GO GIRL POWER!
The sequel to the box office hit was confirmed during this year’s Comic-con, with of course Gal Gadot returning for the titular role. At the time it was unconfirmed if Jenkins would be returning as she was seeking a pay rise, which considering the success of the film, she definitely deserved.
Back in June, it was reported that Jenkins had begun working on a script for the sequel and went so far to tell Entertainment Weekly her thoughts on where our favourite heroine would end up.
“The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right,” Jenkins explained. “She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”
So not only is she writing it, but she’s also directing and producing it. This is going to be awesome!
The film currently has a 2019 release date. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is beyond excited for this. Wonder Woman was truly a great film that the current DC movie franchise with its recent hit and misses could definitely learn a lot from.
