Now this is some pretty damn exciting news. It’s just been announced a few hours ago that Academy Award nominee Jude Law will portray Dumbledore decades before he became the headmaster of Hogwarts in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts sequel due to hit cinemas in 2018.
It was revealed in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them that Dumbledore argued against Newt Scamander’s suspension from Hogwarts due to an accident involving a magical creature. In the second film we will see Dumbledore as Hogwarts Transfiguration professor and we’re sure his colourful history with dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald played by Jonny Depp will come into play. Anyone that is a true Potter fan, knows this is all leading up to epic showdown between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
David Yates is returning to the the director seat and had this to say about the casting, ‘Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I’ve long admired and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.’
With four more films planned for the series, I can’t wait to see what J.K. Rowling has planned, not to mention Jude Law’s take on such an iconic and beloved character.
Damn, why does 2018 have to be so far away???
