James Franco is back playing gay yet again. This time starring starring in the controversial true story I Am Michael. Franco plays former gay-rights activist and gay magazine editor Michael Glatze, who after a health scare, rejects his queer “lifestyle” by turning to religion and becoming a Christian pastor.
Based of on the 2011 New York Times Magazine profile on Glatze, and directed by Justin Kelly, I Am Michael features Zachary Quinto and Emma Roberts as his love interests with Charlie Carver also co-starring. This also marks another collaboration between Kelly and Franco, who previously directed him in the gay porn murder thriller, King Cobra.

After making its debut at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, I Am Michael will have a limited release in cinemas and video on demand from January 27. This looks like one seriously powerful film!
