Catching up with Little Earthquake.

Hanging with Little Earthquake

One of the perks about booking bands for Ric’s Bar is I constantly meet so many awesome musicians. This past week I had the privilege of catching up with the boys from Little Earthquake. They visited Ric’s Bar earlier this year and I couldn’t resist getting them back to perform during their Brightside tour. It goes without saying I’m a pretty big fan of the band.

However, this time around they had an interesting couple of days in Brisbane. Thursday Night they performed alongside one of my favourite Brisbane bands Baskervillain. One of the things I also love about my job is networking different bands together and putting on some awesome gigs. Needles to say this was one of favourite Thursday night gigs in a long time. I may or may not have indulged a little too much in the $4 basics with the bands… perhaps a little too much lol.

On Friday their  music video for the band’s single “Brightside” was banned on Youtube allegedly because of the use of a dead fish in the clip. Yeah go figure! You can read more about that by clicking Here! On Saturday they had their car towed which cost the guys $550 thanks to the ever accommodating Brisbane City Council. But they really didn’t let that dampened their spirits putting on another awesome performance that night and were supported by another local Brisbane band called Kolorsol.

I think the thing that I really appreciated about Little Earthquake is not only are they talented (in my personal opinion it’s only a matter of time before they’re picked up by a label) but as individuals they’re just really down to earth, genuine and decent guys. Not to mention amazing conversationalists and at times just outright funny guys. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the boys and feel privileged to call them friends. Was kinda sucky to say goodbye, but I don’t think it will be too long before I see them again.

Anyways I strongly suggest if they’re doing a gig near you, do yourself a favour and go check them out. You won’t be disappointed! Little Earthquake is definitely a band to keep an eye out for!
