Elm Street: The Making of a Nightmare Documentary

When I think of Wes Craven’s death, I still find a sadness fall over me. I grew up in the 80’s with TV as my parent. Craven’s films were a part of regular viewing. Especially The Elm Street series. No matter how lame they get I’ll always have a soft spot for Freddy Krueger.

Now here’s a taste of vintage for ya! To commemorate the passing of Wes Craven (August 30th), IndieWire posted this amazing documentary that is ripped straight from the VHS. The Youtube description even transcribes the notes from the original VHS cassette cover.

“This exciting & thrilling programme of events traces the history of the four ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’ films, together with interviews of Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, and behind the scenes footage never before screened. Witness the fabulous stunts, the gruesome special effects and the mysteries of the slashers saga, created to produce the most frightening and inherently terrifying nightmare of all time … How ‘The Nightmare’ began…”

Watch Elm Street: The Making of a Nightmare below.

The memories.
